District Conference Gathering

March 09 2020

Dear Laity and Clergy,

Grace and peace to each of you in this holy season of Lent! I trust that you are utilizing this season of spiritual preparation as a time of prayer, fasting, and self-denial.

I write to you today to inform you of an upcoming meeting in the West Jackson District for the purpose of electing our district equalizing delegates to the session of the Mississippi Annual Conference (MSAC) 2020.  On Saturday, March 28 at 9:15 a.m., there will be a called District Conference to elect a slate of equalizing delegates to represent the West Jackson District at the MSAC session. We will meet in the Upper Room at Anderson United Methodist Church, located at 6205 Hanging Moss Road, Jackson, MS 39206.  Information regarding the upcoming MSAC session will be available at this gathering.

Only LAY MEMBERS to Annual Conference who were approved at your charge conference are eligible to vote for equalizing lay members, but both clergy and local church members of our Annual Conference are encouraged to attend the meeting. Local church members and clergy of the West Jackson District are also invited  to attend a “Mississippi Conference Delegation” interactive regional briefing/listening session IMMEDIATELY following the election of the equalizing delegates in the sanctuary of Anderson United Methodist Church.  The Mississippi Conference Delegation will share high-level overview of legislation submitted to General Conference, including structural plans to be considered. We will spend about 90 minutes with the Mississippi Conference Delegation in a time of loving, learning, and leading.  I look forward to seeing each of you on Saturday, March 28 at 9:15 a.m.

Blessings,

Rev. Dr. Stephen T. Cook
